The 17u Nationals extended The World of Baseball's string of Perfect Game playoff appearances to seven in a period of three short  years with an impressive run in the 2010 Championship series held in Fort Myers, Florida.
After posting an impressive 4-1-1 record against clubs hailing from Florida (3), Texas, Georgia and Alabama the National's faced a tough challenge in a determined East Cobb Astro's squad. East Cobb long hailed as one of the premier baseball academies in the country has seen their gap of prominance close with such solid programs as
The World of Baseball.

WOB Headline News
The 17u Nationals kept up their torrid pace over the weekend finishing 6-0 and capturing the first ever 'Ben Stevens Summer Classic' title. It was destined to be a big weekend when Bryan Matthews took home the Home Run Derby crown earlier in the tournament event.
The boys finished up this weekend with a 6 - 0 record and defeated the Jacksonville Warriors 4 - 2  in the championship game at Jacksonville University.   WOB outscored the opposition 63 - 11 and had roughly 72 base hits as a team.  Including the last phase of our college tour the boys have went 17 - 2 - 2 the past 3 weeks.  I couldn't be any more pleased with a team. They have dedicated themselves to each other and have really impressed me with their professionalism.  What a fun group of kids and families to be around!

Hello folks,

We are proud to acknowledge the recent verbal commitments of 4 of our players.  1B/P Bryan Mathews out of Mandarin High School  will continue his playing career at the University of North Florida.  Bryan will have the opportunity to both pitch and play first base for the Division 1 Ospreys.  Bryan has been involved with WOB for several years and has helped lead us to so many victories with his bat and arm.  We are  proud to have him and his family so dedicated to our organization.  Bryan has been part of several perfect game playoff appearances the past couple of years with his most memorable one last October in the PG World Championships.  In the pool championship against the Scorpions organization, Bryan had a huge bases clearing double that  helped us overcome an early 4 - 0 deficit.  He also came in the 7th inning to slam the door shut and help us advance to the playoffs.  Thanks again for your loyalty and commitment, Mathews family!!  We wish you the best, Bryan!!

I am so proud to announce Garrett Ruckel's verbal commitment to Jacksonville University!!  Forgive me if I show some bias towards Garrett:)  Garrett has been starting for me on a showcase team since he was 15 years old.  This young man has so many intangibles that you can't measure.  During a time when kids play baseball just to play it, this young man craves it like no other kid I've ever coached in 13 years.  Garrett took full advantage of having his own training facility at WOB.  Back in 2006, I coached the best catcher in the state of Georgia.  This was a high school kid that played for me and was literally the first catcher in the state of Georgia drafted.  I mean drafted over catchers from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, etc, etc.  I love this kid, however, if I had 1 game to win with one catcher to pick...I pick Garrett Ruckel out of Stanton Prepratory School and The World of Baseball.  I couldn't ask for a better leader and a better coach on the field.  This young man represents what WOB stands for.  I would like to thank the Ruckel family for the opportunity to coach Garrett.  You did a heck of a job with raising this young man.  Clay and I are so proud of you Ruck!!

We are proud to announce the recent verbal commitment of Tyler Martin to the University of Central Florida.  Tyler is a right-handed pitcher out of Providence High School.  This is Tyler's second year with our organization and has been a model of consistency for us on the mound.  Tyler has put together a tremendous summer with leading us to victories in the UnderArmour Nationals, Perfect Game Wood Bat National Championships, Perfect Game BSC Nationals, and most recently, the quarterfinal game in the Ben Stevens Summer Classic.  Tyler also is a 2 sport athlete at Providence.  This past winter he played a pivotal role in Providence's 33 - 1 record and State Championship. Thanks for your commitment, Tyler.   Congratulations Martin Family!!  We wish you the best, Tyler!

We are proud to announce the recent verbal commitment of Beau Hilton to Gardner Webb University.  Beau is a left-handed pitcher out of Bartram Trail High School.  Beau has been such a wonderful leader for us the past few years.  After the graduations of WOB phenoms, Tony Mollica and Clint Cronin, Beau had the dubious honor of taking over as the ace of our staff and leading us into national events.  Beau has handled that task with flying colors as he has helped put and keep the World of Baseball on the national map.  It's tough to pick Beau's biggest game for us.  He overcame a rough first inning against the Scorpions organization in the Worlds to help lead us to one of WOB's biggest victories.  However, if I had to pick one game that I thought his "stuff" was as good as it gets, I would say his performance against national powerhouse DiamondDevils to start the summer.  That performance led to Gardner Webb hearing about him.  Gardner Webb than saw him against the powerful Dirtbags where he nearly threw a no-hitter against one of the top 10 teams in America on East Cobb's #1 field.  That performance sealed the deal for Beau and Gardner Webb University.  We are so proud of you Beau and would like to congratulate you and your family once again!!

WOB is closing in on 40 players signing college scholarships in less than 4 years.  Just like last years team, I'm overly confident that every player on this team will earn a scholarship.  We have several rising seniors that I am getting phone calls on and our talented junior class is getting courted very aggressively.  I'm looking forward to Prospect Wire and certainly a very good Fall Showcase season.
